An Open Letter to December

Dear December,
It has been such a whirlwind around here since you arrived that I feel we haven't even had a chance to talk. How is it possible that you already been here for 15 days- nearly half of your yearly allotment- and I haven't so much as hung a wreath, mailed a card or bought one gift?

There's only one explanation; you are in hurry to get out of here, aren't you? Maybe you have big plans for you 11 months off. Maybe you don't like the cold anymore than I do. Maybe you are well tired of people only associating you with Christmas, presents, shopping malls and well-intentioned but tacky light displays.

Whatever the reason, I implore you to stop here for a while. Put your feet up. Relax.  Consider extending your stay. Because there are a couple of thing I HAVE to get done before you go. Absolutely have to. Even if it means working on Christmas morning or at midnight on New Year's Eve.

You are always welcome here, December. January, February and March I could live without completely. Seriously, they could disappear from the calendar and I wouldn't miss 'em for a moment. But December, you're something special.

XO,
Susie

I am soooo with you on that - January - March could not exist and I would be very happy. Weather-wise, at least!

What a wonderful reminder to all of us to slow down and enjoy this magical time of year.

You made me think of December in a totally different way :)
Do you think months are female or male, like ships and countries are? I would think female, being that we have Mother Nature and Mother Earth. Maybe that's why December is in such a rush... she just has too much to do in her alloted 31 days...just like the rest of us females this time of year.
I'd like to keep February around though for personal reasons...and besides, Feb is only 28 days and then she's gobbled up by March.
