Sheep in the Snow
I was so busy enjoying myself at the Solstice Celebration that I didn't have time to take many photographs. Here are the few I took.

Notice Logan's lack of pants. He was "helping" his father with the fire and got hot and it seemed like the best way to cool off was to take off his pants. Needless to say, I was in the house when this decision was made.
Our Sheepish Christmas Tree

The Pope's (Bob, Nancy, Patty and Matthew) made the trip up to the farm from Long Island.

Karen and her mom came up and brought an amazing apple pie. A.Maz.Ing.

EmilyLousie's boyfriend Yan took this great picture of us around the fire.

If anyone else would like to share the pics they took yesterday shoot me an email at susangibbs1 AT mac DOT com.
We all agreed this was the best, least-stressful party we've ever had. So many people brought great food- my dining table is still covered with desserts. It was just a lovely day all around. We'll be making the Solstice Celebration a yearly Fiber Farm tradition, so save the date for next year.

What an amazing day we had
Our Solstice Party was a great success and a whole lot of fun. We were a smaller group than expected but those that braved the weather came bearing loads of fantastic food. I wish all of you could have been here but we will definitely be doing this again.
I'll post pics tomorrow but I want to wish you all a happy Solstice.

It's On!
Well, the weather outside is frightful, but I have 24 hotdogs in the fridge and enough chili to feed all of you, so we are having a party tomorrow.
If the roads are clear enough and you feel comfortable driving we'd love to have you. We'll have hot cider and hot chocolate ready when you get here, lots of comfort food to warm you and the fire a-blazing.
Patrick, Erin, Logan, Harry and I spent the whole day getting ready for the party and we can't wait to see you.

Party Details Here

The MVFF/HVFF Holiday Party is shaping up. I thought we were going to have to cancel it due to the fact that we can't get a wood stove installed in the church for love or money. So instead of having an open house in the new yarn shop we are having an open farm and bonfire to celebrate solstice.
The party will take place at our farm house in Hopewell Junction but this an outdoor event, so dress appropriately. The plan is for the party to start at 2 p.m. and end around 6. We'll light the bonfire before it gets dark at 4:30 and roast hot dogs, pop popcorn and make s'mores over the fire.
There will also be live music, an outdoor tree to decorate, door prizes and a contest for the Ugliest Holiday Sweater and a Most Beautiful Finished Object created with MVFF/HVFF yarn. Like an office party but with people you like, fun stuff to do, good food and lambs and kids. Not like an office party at all come to think of it.
I have gotten a couple of questions already via email:
1. Yes, we will have yarn available for sale, but only cause you asked.
2. Yes, you may bring your friends, neighbors, family members, Uncle Bob, and kids. Just rsvp ON THIS POST so we can get a head count.
3. Yes, you can bring something. (My what a gracious guest your Mama raised! Call her right now and thank her for giving you the gift of manners.) We're calling this a sort of modified potluck event because I know some of you would rather show up nekkid than empty-handed while others will be traveling from too far away to successfully carry a covered dish. (Outside the mac and cheese zone if you will.) So if you'd have the time and the follow through to bring something please let me know.
Please bring your knitting and or spinning if you like and a chair. WE NEED CHAIRS DESPERATELY. You might want to bring a flashlight as well for walking back to your car but we'll have a few on hand.
4. Nekkid dancing around the bonfire is strictly optional.
Hit me with an email if you have more questions. susan at mac dot com

MVFF/HVFF Holiday Party Update
More details later today but I wanted to put up a "Save the Date" post ASAP. We are planning a Solstice Party for December 20th in Hopewell Junction, NY at the Hudson Valley farm.
I can't tell you all the details yet but it is going to be an event you won't want to miss! (You know us Texas girls do everything BIG.)
