New Year's Resolution Time!

I love, love, LOVE New Year's Resolutions. Love 'em to pieces! How awesome is it that every single one of us gets a blank slate to start all over again? And what could be better than setting some realistic goals for ourselves in the new year? Go on. Tell me. What?

I make a whole lot of resolutions but they tend to be smallish ones. Not "I will have the body of a super model by February 1st" but " I will eat more healthfully." Like that.

I'm working on my list and I'll be posting it here tomorrow. In the meantime though I'd love to hear your resolutions.

Laugh more often, give more freely, love more deeply. Those are my goals.

I bought a new journal. I set goals for myself in the areas of "personal," "knitting," "family," "community" and "professional." My plan is to journal at least weekly about my progress on these goals so that I literally don't lose sight of them. They include: exercise regularly, journal weekly, complete a fair isle project, dye my MVFF yarn, complete Traveling scarf project, start a compost bin, take home NO plastic shopping bags, read a professional article once/week, attend one cont. ed course, read to my children daily, plan & take a family vacation, organize my 401K's and IRA, have a date with my husband once/month. Think I can do all that, plus have a baby and raise a very active toddler?? I'm not sure but I'm gonna try!!

Be kinder to my body - I tend to forget about it to the point of mild abuse! I'll start doing Pilates at home, and I'll be taking more breaks from my multi-hour spinning and knitting sessions. I think that alone will keep me occupied this year.

I ususally don't make New Years resolutions, but this year my life change just falls on /around that time.I would have started weeks ago, but with Christmas coming it would have been doomed from the start.I know a billion people do this every January, but for me it's a huge deal....
This is my year to shed some weight, get fit and be nicer to myself. All of which is very necessary to my health and inner peace.
I think that should keep me busy for the year.

On the knit side of life..my New Year Resolution is perfect my sock knitting, and knit more socks.

On the life side, stop being a people pleaser.

So far I have one set in stone. (Well in my blog, anyway.) I'm knitting a sweater, February Lady, with my green cormo. :) It'll be my deployment sweater, so I'll have plenty of time and no excuse not to. Goodness knows I'll need the de-stress, and I'm the queen of not finishing projects. My other two will somehow involve being a better leader and "doing the right thing" more often. But I haven't pinned them down yet.

I want to get back into meditation again, it helped me banish migraine and goodness knows I want them to *stay* gone. I want to make yoga a more regular part of my life. I'm also planning to take a year off from drinking.

a few...to give up sugar (fell off the wagon after 3 years this halloween), to get more comfortable spinning, to start taking more pictures, to backpack more (and bring family along), to kill off and cut up my visa card! (smile)

Travel less! Spin more! do my back exercises... (that last one is hard to stick to)

Last year my resolution was to do a pull-up! I haven't yet done one, although I did lose 30 lbs. and met with a trainer at the local YMCA to learn how to use the weight machines. So I will keep trying to finish last year's resolution, with the addition of going to the gym at least once a week and maintaining my current weight.

This sounds small and insignificant, but my big resolution this year is to keep up with the mail. I have a bad habit of dropping all of the mail on the endtable when I come in and letting it pile up for days (or weeks...) and then it's a major production and timesuck to go through and separate the real mail from the junk -- and the shredding piles up too. Which leads to piles around the house, which leads to general clutter.....you get the idea.

On the knitty side of things, I am resolving to knit myself a sweater using stranded colorwork!
